The beginning

Adoption has been a topic of conversation between us from early in our marriage - maybe even longer than that. The last 4 years, we have been at a church where adoption is more the rule than the exception. Walking down the halls and flipping through the directory, it is more common than not to see large families with members who don't look much alike. It is really a beautiful thing.
Because of this culture at our church, we've seen up close and personal the good, the bad, and the ugly of adoption. Mostly the beautiful realities of a child becoming a part of family, but also the really hard things that come with that. We've watched a family almost be torn apart because of a particularly hard adoption. We've seen the stares and heard the comments whispered about a family who have adopted more children than they can comfortably afford.
But we have also learned the deeper realities of adoption from watching these families...that adoption is this most beautiful picture of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That it is, at it's core, the very heart of God our Father.
And we want to be a part of this.

So, this is not the beginning of our journey to adoption. Our journey began before the foundation of the world. When, before we were even formed, before we were known on earth, we were known, loved, and called by God to be a part of His family. See, adoption is written on the heart of every believer because with out it, we would still be orphans. Fatherless, lifeless, hopeless.

We don't know when we will actually add a child to our family through adoption, but God is continuing to do lots in our hearts to move us in that direction. We want one day, to be able to show our son or daughter that before they were known by us, they were thought of, prayed for, and even loved.
